Esha Deol: If I were to debut in today's time, I would definitely choose an action film - Times of India

After taking out time from her professional life to enjoy motherhood, Esha Deol is back to business. The actress recently produced and starred in a film titled, ‘Ek Duaa’ that was released on OTT. In an interview with ETimes, Esha opened up about the digital space, her love for fitness, and more. Excerpts…
There is a surge of female-oriented content on OTT and it has given a new lease of life to many actors. How do you look at this change?
The OTT platform is booming and there is a wide variety of content to choose from. You can choose the kind of work you want to do. It has brought in a new era altogether for actors. I think there has been some great work out there; performances are being displayed. As far as female-oriented films are concerned, even my mother has done some great female-oriented films back then. So now, I think the OTT has much more variety and that’s great.

You have been one of the fittest actors we have in B-town. How important do you think is fitness in today’s time?
I take immense pride when I hear that I am one of the fittest actors in Bollywood because a lot of hard work has gone into looking fit back then and even today. I love working out and keeping my body sculpted. I thoroughly enjoyed my pregnancies. I ate whatever I wanted to eat. I put on a lot of weight. I enjoyed even the nursing period, when I was quite plump. I didn’t compromise on anything. Now that I am back in front of the camera, I took time and worked on myself. I think I am in pretty good shape now. But there is always something that you can improve on. My trainers have been great with me. I am back to training with Satyajit Chaurasiya, with whom I used to train during ‘Dhoom’. It is so much fun working out. I balance weight training and cardio with yoga. For a woman like me, who is working and looking after kids and my husband, we need to keep our mind, body and soul-aligned. So yoga helps me a lot to stay calm.

As far as fitness in today’s time is concerned, I can see a huge transformation. People do different types of workouts and go to classes. They are looking after themselves, eating healthy, and refraining from bad habits. Everybody is trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Of course, the pandemic has also had a huge impact on people because of which people want to look after their health even more. I see my sisters-in-law and cousins try out different workouts. I have my friends who train regularly in their houses. It is so nice to see everyone wanting to stay fit. Nowadays Mumbai gives out Los Angeles vibes where everything is about yoga and workout. It is just lovely to witness this.

If you were to debut in today’s times, what kind of film would you love to be a part of?
If I were to debut in today’s time, I would definitely choose an action film. That is something I would like to try.
