Vidya Balan talks about having to adapt to fit a...


Bollywood actress Vidya Balan opened up on his experiences of Sexism in the film industry.

According to Balan, women face sexism all the time, and it has become so normalized that it is becoming more difficult to get rid of of.

She said sexism annoys her and not everyone notices when it happens.

In an interview with Hindustan times, Vidya Balan also recalled his own experiences with Sexism.

She said:

“I think that we face sexism all the time, and no just through men, Same as women. Sometimes, on do that to others women too much.

“I think misogyny is so intrinsic to the patriarchal mindset, in that we’re all soaked in, it’s hard to get rid of of easily.

“I face even today, sometimes. it annoys me but of of course, it’s a lot less now than before.

“All around me I see people facing Sexism. Not everyone is even aware he’s saying something wrong, most of time.”

Vidya Balan went on talk about his encounters with sexism when she first entered the Bollywood industry.

The actress revealed thaton had asked him to change his dates depending on the availability of the male actor.

She said that even though she role has been more important that son co-star’s, she was always supposed to adapt to son schedule.

Vidya Balan said:

“In my early years, on always told me that ‘the male actor gave his dates so you will have to work your meetings around his.

“Sometimes it didn’t even matter if I was playing a more important role than him in the film.”

Vidya Balan’s latest film Sherni sees her play a forest officer who battles Sexism personnel and professional.

According to Balan, Sherniis “unusual storyAttracted her to the film, and that the character she is playing is like no other.

The actress also says that while Bollywood films have been set in the jungle before, Sherni concerns the jungle itself.

Balan said: “I thought it was a first, and of Of course, Vidya Vincent as a character is very different from everything of the characters I have played so far.

“All characters I played were very obviously strong. Vidya Vincent is strong but doesn’t seem aggressive.

“She’s very withdrawn, so she’s a different personality, and I thought it was again a first. “
