Salman to the rescue of the stunt artistes

Finally, there is some help coming the way of Movie Stunt Artistes Association. Salman Khan and Netflix India have now taken it upon themselves to help out the stunt artistes registered under the association. Action director Aejaz Gulab, who is the General Secretary of the association, said that the association had not received any help until now, adding, “Now, we are getting help from Salman Khan, and the money will be transferred into the accounts of our members. Even Netflix will be helping our association so there is some relief for members who have been sitting at home without work’’.

During the first lockdown, actors like Tiger Shroff and Ajay Devgn had extended help to the stunt artistes. Ajay, who is the son of action director Veeru Devgan, had transferred Rs 5,000 to about 350 fighters of the Movie Stunt Artistes Association. Tiger, who is known to perform his own stunts, had distributed rations to 250 members of the association. Bollywood’s khiladi Akshay Kumar also continues to help them out by paying an insurance cover for all the 616 members of the association. When things are normal, a stunt artiste earns about Rs 9,000 per shift, which includes conveyance fees.
Most of the members of the association live in rented apartments.
