Bollywood actress Mahima Makwana had already been in daily soaps such as Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Shubharambh, and Rishton Ka Chakravyuh, and she is now prepared to establish a name for herself in Bollywood as well.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mahima opened her heart out and talked about the challenges she has had to face in life so far. "I could never make decisions based on my own creativity only as I am the sole earning person of my family. So, I had to strike a balance between running the kitchen and doing good work," said the young actress.

Mahima has been working from a very young age, "I started auditioning when I was just 9 and my first break happened when I was 12 or 13."

She went on to state, "I was working and simultaneously also completing my education."

She also talked about how she had to make time for both work and studies saying, "I made sure that I don’t neglect my studies because that is something I and my family give a lot of importance to." Mahima believes that whatever one learns is the basis of any person as an individual. The actor has done BMM all while working from the young age of 9 years.

Meanwhile, Mahima Makwana’s latest release Antim: The Final Truth starred Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma in the lead roles.

Bollywood actress Kajol has tested positive for COVID 19. The actress took to her verified social media account to share the news with her fans, followers and colleagues. Announcing the same, she posted a picture of her daughter Nysa Devgn saying she doesn't want to show people her sick face. "Tested positive and I really don't want anyone to see my Rudolph nose so let's just stick to the sweetest smile in the world! Miss u @nysadevgan and yes I can see the eye roll (sic)," she wrote.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas was among the first ones to react to the post. "She's stunning' she wrote complementing Nysa.

On the work front, Kajol was last seen in the film "Tribhanga". Her future projects include the biopic "Sasi Lalitha", besides "Velaiilla Pattadhari 3" and Rajkumar Hirani's untitled satire opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Kajol has also joined hands with actress-turned-director Revathy for the upcoming film 'The Last Hurrah'. Inspired by a true story and real characters, 'The Last Hurrah' tells a tale of an exemplary mother, Sujata, who battled the most challenging situations one can ever face with a smile.

Priyamani says Bollywood showed South Indian characters as those ‘who didn’t speak Hindi the normal way’ - Times of India

Only a few days ago she heaped praise on Ajay Devgn but it seems National Award-winning actress Priyamani is not impressed with everything about Bollywood. During a recent interview with an entertainment portal, the popular actress claimed that in many Bollywood movies, people from South have been shown as someone who speaks Hindi with a unique accent.
The seasoned actress shared that earlier divas from the south such as Sridevi, Rekha, Hema Malini and Vyjayanthimala used to rule Bollywood but then it all stopped. According to her, the representation of South Indians in Bollywood films became restricted to those who used to not speak Hindi in the normal way, for instance - ‘Aiyo, kaisa ji, kya bolta ji’- like that.

However, Priyamani is now happy to see that such kind of a portrayal is changing. According to her, this trend changed when Bollywood started to rope in South technicians and as a result soon South Indian technicians flooded the Hindi film industry and made a name for them quickly.
Now as the southern content is gaining popularity among the Bollywood audience the popular actress says it’s great to see South talent finally getting recognition in Bollywood and South stars are also receiving the love they deserve.

Meanwhile, Priyamani who has a praiseworthy filmography in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada movies will be seen as Ajay Devgn’s onscreen wife in Amit Sharma’s biographical sports film ‘Maidaan’. In the film, based on the golden era of Indian football (1952 - 1962), Ajay plays legendary Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. In a recent interview, Bhumi Pednekar explained why she starred in ‘Badhaai Do’. She said she was excited to be part of the film because it gave her the opportunity to portray a character who will be an “eye-opener” for Indians.

Rajkummar Rao stars in the lead role of ‘Badhaai Do’, which recently released its trailer and sparked a discussion about social inclusion. Lavender marriage (marriage between a man and a woman to hide homosexuality) was highlighted in the trailer. Bhumi can be seen portraying Suman Singh, a 31-year-old physical education teacher with a fascination for women in the trailer.

Defying the pressure of their families, she marries Shardul Thakur (Rajkummar). When Rajkummar’s character suggests he is also gay, the story takes a real turn.

‘Badhaai Do’ will open the eyes of the people of India, according to Bhumi, who is pleased with the reaction viewers have given the trailer.

She expressed, “I’m really proud that content filmmakers, making differential and clutter-breaking subjects, feel I can help a project that is unique and bring their vision to life. I thrive on pushing myself constantly and my decision to do Badhaai Do was based on the fact that I get to sensitively portray a character and give voice to a subject that will be an eye-opener for India.”

The actor added, “Badhaai Do is a hot franchise that balances commerce with content. It is really exciting to be an actor in these times because such subjects are being backed by big producers who want to create a change in society. As a human being, I’m drawn to subjects that can lead to a positive impact on people and be a catalyst for social good. I hope Badhaai Do does just the same. I can’t wait for people to watch this film because it is truly, truly endearing.”

‘Badhaai Do’ will be released in theaters on February 11, directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni. As well as ‘Badhaai Do’, Bhumi will also star in ‘Bheed’ by Anubhav Sinha; ‘Ladykiller’ by Ajay Bahl; ‘Govinda Aala Re’ by Shashank Khaitan; and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ by Aanand L. Rai.

The actress in an interview with film critic Anupama Chopra stated, "Girls are just expected to be good-looking, look nice and just be interesting enough for a guy to be interested in you in a film. Firstly, in India, I would say it is reflective of our society, that's the way we want to look at women."

She went on to say, “"Men can work as long as they want to, even when they've aged. They're still amazing and cool, and I have no problem with that. But why is that women are only okay till they are "young and desirable"? So desirable means what? There's a sexual connotation attached. So, we are looking at women in that way in films only."

During one of her promotional tours for her film 'PK' (2014), the actress brought to everyone's attention the fact that when it comes to actresses, people focus on irrelevant topics. She said, “I'm just so glad we're talking about a man's weight today. Otherwise, we're only talking about women and how much weight they've gained and how much they have to lose.”

In a 2019 interview with the Evening Standard, actress Deepika Padukone revealed that she has dealt with her fair share of sexism. She stated, "There were lots of things I was advised (to do). To get a b**b job, do the beauty pageants. They felt it was the right way to be recognised or picked up by a Bollywood director or producer. It might be an easier way to achieve what you want to achieve. But I haven’t been that person; I’ve always followed my gut."

In an interview with PTI, actress Kangana Ranaut, who was heavily chastised by a section of the film industry for directing her film 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', said, "I'm just a new director on the block, what's the big deal? I see there is a lot of sexism involved in this- a woman, doing an epic action film and directing it. That's something even Hollywood was struggling with. When 'Wonder Woman' came people were like 'oh a woman director making an action film' but when the film worked well, they all praised a woman pulling this off. There is clearly deep-rooted sexism."

Actress Vidya Balan recently discussed how she has dealt with sexism from men, women, and even herself. She claims there have been times when she has underestimated herself due to her gender. Vidya recalled her encounter with sexism in an interview with Hindustan Times, claiming that she was asked to adjust her dates based on the availability of the male actor, despite having a more prominent role in the film. “In my early years, I would always be told that, ‘The male actor has given his dates, so you will have to work your dates around his.’ Sometimes, it didn’t even matter if I was playing a more prominent role than him in the film,” she said.

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed in an interview with People magazine that she had once encountered the infamous sexist attitude that Bollywood is known for. A producer once told her that she, like every other girl in the industry, can be replaced. The actress also spoke about victim blaming in India, “Men need to stop deflecting and start defending the women of this country. It's like saying if a girl is wearing a short skirt then she’s responsible for getting raped. She's raped because a man raped her.”

Bollywood actress Kajol tests positive for COVID-19

Kajol, who is one of the country’s most successful stars, took a tongue-in-cheek approach to her prognosis. “Tested positive and I really don’t want anyone to see my Rudolph nose so let’s just stick to the sweetest smile in the world!,” posted Kajol alongside a picture of her daughter Nysa.

The actress further added: “Miss u @nysadevgan and yes I can see the eye roll!”

It is unclear at this time whether Kajol’s husband, actor Ajay Devgn, has been affected.

Kajol’s news comes even as legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar remains in a Mumbai hospital in the ICU after contracting COVID-19 and placed on a ventilator. However, after nearly a week in that condition, she was taken off the ventilator on Thursday after showing signs of improvement, according to the family.

India has been grappling a recent spike in COVID-19 cases, with several celebrities battling the virus in recent weeks including actors John Abraham, Mahesh Babu, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, Shobhana, Mammootty, producer Ekta Kapoor and more.

The doting mother also shared some beautiful pictures from the time when she was 4-months-pregnant that were clicked by her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi. She penned:

The Delhi High Court has obliterated the remarks against veteran actress Juhi Chawla that she had filed a case against setting up the 5G wireless network in India because of its hazardous effects on the health of the people to allegedly gain publicity. The penalty on the actress has been reduced from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 lakh by Justices Jasmeet Singh and Vipin Sanghi. They reportedly stated that Chawla had not taken up the issue in a 'frivolous or casual' manner.

According to a news report in Pinkvilla, the Delhi High Court has stated on Juhi Chawla's case saying, "Ms Chawla, who has appeared before us, has stated that she raised the issue in all seriousness and she has also said that she did not expect the proceedings to go on in the manner they did. We are of the view that the order of the single judge needs to be modified in the interest of justice. We, therefore, expunge the observations made by the judge against Juhi Chawla, especially those made in paras 41 and 43."

The order of the Delhi High Court on the Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani actress' case further added, "The order further added, "We reduce the costs from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. We are inclined to retain part of the costs since we do find that the applications made along with the plaint were indeed completely meritless. Ms Chawla has volunteered that she will work with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority in whose favour the costs of Rs 20 lakh were originally awarded. She will work to advance the cause of women in need of legal aid. She says she will be honoured to render social service by featuring in their programmes."

Juhi Chawla had pointed out the alleged harmful effects of the 5G technology on human health and the environment, last year in June. Chawla had asked the concerned authorities to clarify how 5G would be safe for humans, animals, flora, fauna and the whole ecosystem at large.

In connection to her lawsuit challenging 5G wireless network technology, Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla issued a statement where she welcomed the Delhi High Court’s order of reducing the fine imposed on her. After Juhi volunteered to work with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) for the cause of marignalised women and children, the fine was reduced from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. In her statement, Juhi stated, 'We graciously accept the indulgence of the Delhi High Court and are grateful that the costs were reduced from Rs 20 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs. In addition, we are happy to work with the DSLSA by featuring in the DSLSA's programmes raising the causes of women and children who are in need to legal air. We are glad that the Hon'ble High Court agreed with and recognised the seriousness of our campaign in raising awareness against the health hazards caused by the EMF radiations of 5G and encouraged us to continue with our efforts giving us the added opportunity to seek appropriate legal remedies in the future'. A Division Bench of Justices announced the order recently and had also expunged the remarks made against Juhi Chawla by judge JR Midha, who had stated in his order that the actress had filed a frivolous suit and that it was all for publicity. In the order, the court stated, "Having perused the impugned order on record, it appears to us that the plaintiffs, who do not come from a legal background, should not be made to share the blame or consequences for the manner in which the suit and applications were drafted. The single-judge was also disturbed by the fact that the link of the hearing was circulated to the public at large which led to the proceedings getting disrupted." Juhi had filed a lawsuit against setting up for 5G wireless networks in the country last year. Her plea stated that the levels of RF radiation would be 10-100 times more than the present levels. However, Justice JR Midha had held that the suit was defective, non-maintainable, and also contained unverified and vexatious assertions and a fine was also imposed on the actress.

Raveena Tandon On Being Replaced In Some Films, Says, The Hero's Girlfriend Was Insecure Of Her

Bollywood actress, Raveena Tandon rules millions of hearts with her stellar performances, starting from the 90s era, till today. She had become an overnight sensation with the 1994 film, Mohra, and since then, there was no looking back for the talented actress. Even today, the actress never fails to impress people with her endearing personality and fashion statements. She had married her dream man, Anil Thandani, in February 2004.

For the unversed, Raveena had adopted her cousin's daughters, Pooja and Chhaya in 1995. Then she had welcomed her biological kids from her marriage with Anil Thadani, a daughter, Rasha Thadani, in 2005 and a son, Ranbirvardhan Thadani, in 2008. She keeps on sharing snippets from her life on her social media handle.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Raveena Tandon opened up on how she was replaced in a few films, and the reason was the hero's girlfriend. She revealed that she also had lost a few films due to this and said:

"I was replaced intentionally because this girl did not like me, was insecure about me. She was dating a hero at that time and forced him to replace me because we were a hit pair. Forced him to replace with me with other heroines. So I lost out on 1-2 films on that account,"

Raveena revealed how the hero's girlfriend insisted the hero to replace her with some other heroine. She added: 

"And then she pressurised another favourite hero of mine to replace me from another movie. And apparently that hero came and told me, 'arey who make itna ROI, itna ROI ki main aap log ki purani gang hu aur aapne Kaise isko Lelia. Rona dhona Hua uska. To Maine our director ne Socha Chalo theek hai, little bit of loyalty we owe to her'."

Raveena further added the best part of the whole experience was when the same hero would come back to her and offered her work after getting dumped by his girlfriend, who once pressurized him to replace Raveena, had left a film shoot in the middle. Raveena said:

"The best part was thode saalo ke baad she dumped that hero and he came to me, 'are uski film this yar, tu please Abhi mere liye karde, wo beech me chod ke Chali gai.' Maine kaha ‘main to tereko pahle se bolti thi ki uski fitrat hi aisi hai.’ It was very funny actually. But it didn't make a difference to me because to a certain extent, I do believe that there is a certain path your destiny has to follow." 

In a conversation with Tweak India, Raveena Tandon had shared ten unknown things about herself. She had opened up about the one condition that she had put forward before her husband, Anil Thadani, before tying the knot with him. She had said:

"I think when you've kind of made up your mind and when there's a will, of course if you have a certain stable backing from your family, I think things can be easier. Yes, there were moments where people always thought that I'm taking on excess baggage because I was not settled well yet, but my mantra was always – if someone had to love me, they had to love me. I come as a package deal – they have to love me, my girls, my dogs and my family."

On the work front, Raveena Tandon will be next seen in the film, KGF: Chapter 2.

Raveena Tandon recalls being replaced in a film by an actor's girlfriend: 'She was insecure'

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon recently refuted rumours about rivalry with actresses Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Karisma Kapoor and Kajol.

In one of her recent interviews, Raveena talked about her relationship with her contemporaries and said that they have been friends.

She told RJ Siddharth Kanan, "There were was no cut-throat or dirty politics."

The 'Mohra' actress said that she has been friends with Shilpa Shetty from Day 1 and it has been the same with Kajol too.

She also added that even though she doesn't have any sour relations with Karisma, Shilpa and Kajol, there were a few actors who played ‘dirty games’ and were a part of ‘dirty gossip’, and she has stayed away from it all.

Raveena also opened up about the time when she was replaced by an actor's girlfriend because she was insecure. "I was replaced intentionally because this girl did not like me, was insecure about me. She was dating a hero at that time and forced him to replace me because we were a hit pair. Forced him to replace with other heroines. So I lost out on 1-2 films on that account," she said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Raveena recently made her digital debut in 2021 with Netflix series 'Aranyak’. The show also featured Parambrata Chatterjee and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.

Raveena made her Bollywood debut with the 1991 action film 'Patthar Ke Phool'. After appearing with Govinda in the film 'Sandwich', Raveena took a break from films for a while. In 2014, she made her comeback as a judge on CEO's Got Talent.

She will next be seen in 'K.G.F: Chapter 2' as Ramika Sen.

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty cleared of obscenity charges stemming from 2007 kiss with Richard Gere: report

Shilpa Shetty has been cleared of charges in India nearly 15 years after the actress was kissed by actor Richard Gere in public.

Obscenity charges filed against the Bollywood actress were dismissed in a Mumbai court last week, the BBC reports.

The charges against Shetty, 46, were ruled "groundless," and the court found that she was a victim of an unwanted advance from Gere, according to the outlet.

Shetty, who first skyrocketed to fame in India after appearing on "Celebrity Big Brother" in the United Kingdom was previously accused of being a "perpetrator" for not doing more to resist Gere's public kiss at the time it happened.

The smooch took place in 2007 when Gere, now 72, planted a kiss on Shetty's cheek at an Aids awareness event in Delhi, India. The event was organized by Truckers Corporation of India Foundation and HIV-AIDS advocacy organization Heroes Project to help create awareness on unsafe sexual practices amongst the truckers community and prevention of the spread of HIV-AIDS.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gere. However, it was thrown out by India's Supreme Court not long after and the claims against him were dismissed as being filed against the actor for "cheap publicity," per the outlet.

Public kissing is considered as taboo by some in India, per the BBC. Gere and Shetty's kiss sparked protests by Hindu groups claiming the display of affection was insulting to the country's values.

Gere issued an apology for the act at the time, claiming the act was his way of showing that kissing was safe and could not lead to the transmission of HIV.

"What is most important to me is that my intentions as an HIV/AIDS advocate be made clear, and that my friends in India understand that it has never been, nor could it ever be, my intention to offend you," Gere said in a statement at the time, via People.

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday is gearing up for her next film Gehraiyaan starring alongside Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa. The Dharma Productions film depicts modern-day relationships and infidelity takes centerstage. This marks the first time Ananya will be paired opposite Siddhant after which the duo reunites for Zoya Akhtar’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time they’ve interacted with each other.

Back in 2019, both the stars were invited to Newcomers Roundtable with Rajeev Masand. Earlier that year, Ananya Panday had made her debut with Student of the Year 2 whereas Siddhant Chaturvedi made an impact as MC Sher in Gully Boy.  During the discussion on nepotism, Ananya made a statement that made people their eyes roll. In fact, Siddhant had a response to it that went viral on social media after which Panday was trolled a lot for being entitled and out of touch about genuine experiences of people.

Now, cut to 2022, not only they have signed two projects together, they seem to have a sweet friendship and bond. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama recently, when asked what is the one thing she’d like to tell Siddhant Chaturvedi that she hasn’t told him yet, Ananya responded by saying, “I forgive you even though you have not said sorry. I have forgiven you.” While Ananya didn’t mention what exactly she was forgiving the actor for, this sure raises a lot of questions.

Meanwhile, alongside Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi, the film also features Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa as leads along with Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles. Jointly produced by Viacom18 Studios and Dharma Productions in association with director Shakun Batra’s Jouska Films, Gehraiyaan will have its World Premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2022.

Bollywood Star Shilpa Shetty Cleared Of “Obscenity” 15 Years After Richard Gere Kiss At Charity Event

Shilpa Shetty, the Indian actress known for her roles in Hindi movies and as a TV personality, has been cleared of “obscenity” charges dating back to a 15-year-old incident at a charity event.

At an Aids awareness event in 2007 in India, Hollywood star Richard Gere publicly kissed Shetty on the arm and on both cheeks while they were being videoed on stage. The brief, if strange, moment provoked a fiery reaction in India, with radical Hindu groups taking umbrage with the public display of affection, and in particular criticizing Shetty for not resisting.

At the time, a judge issued arrest warrants for both parties on charges including “indecency” and “obscenity”. The case against Gere was swiftly dropped, and the actor, who is a Buddhist, was soon allowed to return to India.

Shetty’s charges, however, languished in the court system until it was dismissed by a Mumbai judge this week, who called the case “groundless”.

The Gere interaction was not the first time Shetty had been accused of obscenity. In 2006, the actress also faced criticism for pictures printed in a newspaper of her and fellow actress Reema Sen.

Outside of India, Shetty is known for her appearance in season five of UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother, in which she was the victim of alleged racism and bullying by fellow housemates Jade Goody, Jo O’Meara and Danielle Lloyd.

'I have nothing against her': Ameesha Patel addresses rumours of feud with Kareena Kapoor Khan

Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel recently opened up about her feud rumours with Kareena Kapoor Khan.

The two actresses have been pitted against each other several times in the past.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ameesha finally decided to address the issue and made it clear that there was never any bad blood between the two.

Ameesha made her acting debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in 'Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai' in the year 2000. According to media reports, Kareena was supposed to star in the film, however, things could not materialise and Ameesha was brought on board.

Talking to Pinkvilla, Ameesha said, "I have no enemies. In fact when Kareena looks stunning in some song or some film and delivers a great performance, I actually tell my closest friends that ‘she has done a brilliant job.’ I think she is a tremendously beautiful woman, amazing actress and I have nothing against her."

Ameesha said that she was asked by the media to react to Kareena's alleged comments against her at the time. Reportedly, Kareena had called Ameesha 'a bad actor'. "I said I have no comments. What is MCOCA law, after which Jacqueline and Nora were saved from coming under the radar

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi have been in the news for the past few months due to the case of 'scumbag' Sukesh Chandrasekhar. There are reports that the police want action against Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi under MCOCA but the legal cell did not give the green signal. According to media reports, a chargesheet has been filed against 11 including 'scumbag' Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife actress Leena Maria, who spread the elusive web of fraud from Rohini Jail, under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act 1999).

The chargesheet was also produced before Patiala House court in December 2021. Police sources claim that the Economic Offences Branch (EOW) was also trying to impose MCOCA on actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi. But the legal cell did not approve of it. The opinion was that gifts were also given to both of them. It is not necessary to know the money with which the gift is being given. In this way, both have escaped the purview of a stringent law like MCOCA.

What is MCOCA?: MCOCA i.e. Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act. Under which the offenders who are part of organized crime are investigated. Both crime and criminals survived in Maharashtra in the 90s. Then there was a need for a law that would help prevent organized crimes. In that case, the Maharashtra Government has made MCOCA. The Law has been enacted in 1999 to prevent crimes that are not possible to commit alone and which require planning to be committed. In 2002, the Delhi Government also implemented MCOCA in the capital. It is called a very strict and stringent law. In sections of the IPC, when a case is registered against someone, the criminals break them and escape, but if nominated under MCOCA, the offender does not get bail easily. The law is said to have been able to break the syndicate of criminals who habitually commit crimes.

Kapoor, who made her debut in the 2010 film ‘Teen Patti’, earned her share of the spotlight with the blockbuster ‘Aashiqui 2’. She is currently shooting for the as-yet-unnamed Luv Ranjan film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Boney Kappor (he’s making his acting debut) and Dimple Kapadia.

Incidentally, Kapoor is also rumoured to be getting hitched to Rohan Shrestha this year, despite the couple mum on the subject. Rohan is a second-generation Bollywood lensman, being the son of the famous photogrpaher Rakesh Shrestha. Kapoor’s father Shakti Kapoor last year rubbished rumours that his daughter would marry anytime soon, saying she was too busy to be wed.

"Kakuda" marks the Hindi directorial debut of filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, known for Marathi films like "Classmates", "Mauli" and "Faster Fene".

The film has been written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg. Ronnie Screwvala will be backing the project while Salona Bains Joshi is the associate producer.
